3. TELEHEALTH

Telehealth is not another technology but a process that focuses on the individual to provide greater access and increased knowledge on healthcare. It empowers the individual to manage his/her own personal health and integrates information to allow the smooth flow of services and products throughout the healthcare system. The objectives of the Telehealth Flagship Application are :

	Enhance the quality of medical services
	Improve outreach in urban and in particular in rural areas
	Reduce delivery time
	Save costs
	Become a Regional Centre of Excellence in Telehealth Development
	Deliver leading edge health care products and services worldwide

The four Telehealth pilot projects are designed as an integrated whole to benefit the people.

The four components are :

1. Teleconsultation (TC)
   Enhance capabilities of primary care centers, extend the reach of specialized healthcare, optimize the utilization of specialists and reduce patient transfers.

2. Mass Customised / Personalised Health Information and Education (MCPHIE)
    Provides health information, education and advise that is customized and even personalized for each individual.

3. Lifetime Health Plan (LHP)
    Provides a personalized proactive and prospective lifetime health plan to achieve a continuum of care to keep the individual in the highest possible state of health.

4. Continuing Medical Education (CME)
    Provides continuing up-to-date knowledge and skills to      healthcare providers
